Who are we?

Researching Relatives has been set up as a family based business by Phillip and Janet Ford, previously a retired teacher and ex-civil servant. Phil has been working as a professional genealogist offering research for clients for many years, and is currently retained by Sheffield Archives to answer their clients family and local history queries, whilst Janet offers excellent secretarial and back up support. We have both been very thoroughly bitten by the genealogy bug, and are lucky enough to be able to pursue our hobby as a profession.

We run our business from our own home in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, keeping overheads low, a benefit which we are able to pass on to our clients in the form of reasonable research rates.

We cover the counties of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, in the North and Midlands of England, with a specialised knowledge of Sheffield, South Yorkshire and the surrounding area.

We have access to several town, city and county archives and local studies facilities.
